In these works I am using small video cameras on the hands of the performers,
with a camera on each hand, and the two images superimposed. In the piece N +
M, I use six video images displayed on monitors in the space, simultaneously.
In Nomis, I use three of the superimposed images, plus one image of the whole
setup to show what is happening. For both pieces, I have recorded the rich sound
that is produced, in stereo and in sync sound. And in the exhibition, I am mixing
the 6 stereo tracks of N + M and the 3 stereo tracks of Nomis to stereo in the
different exhibition spaces.
For the piece Nomis, I am pleased to thank Simon Muller, the glass blower, for
making such beautiful sounding glass bowls.

Two musicians from different generations take an in-depth approach to 'noise'

Phill Niblock The Magic Sun 1968, USA, 17 min
« Phill Niblock, photographe, cinéaste et compositeur, directeur
du centre "Experimental Intermedia", a composé un film musical
irradié. Au rebours de l'iconographie exubérante propre à
Sun Ra, il s'immerge dans les gestes musicaux au moyen de gros plans et les
restitue dans un négatif noir et blanc qui monumentalise les vibrations
acoustiques en galaxie sonore. » (Nicole Brenez)
With Sun Ra and his Solar Arkestra. An immersion in musical gesture rendered
in negative black and white that immortalises acoustic vibrations in a galaxy
of sound.
